The theory of “delayed hominization,” which distinguishes between a formed and an unformed embryo (XIII) SANTO TOMAS DE AQUINO

The text explains the Church’s position about abortion. It talks about an article written by Rino Fisichella, who said that the Church’s teaching about abortion has not changed and cannot change. The text also shows that, through history, the Church has always tried to protect human life from the very beginning, from the moment a baby starts growing in the mother.

The Bible is used to support this idea. One verse says that God knows us before we are born. Another verse says that God sees us even when we are being formed in secret. These ideas show that life is important from the very start.

The text explains that abortion, when it is done on purpose, is very wrong according to moral law. It says that something “licit” means something that is right or allowed, but abortion is not considered licit.

The Church teaches that abortion is a serious sin. Because of this, a person who causes an abortion can be punished with excommunication. This means they are separated from the Church. The law of the Church talks about this in its rules. Even so, the Church still believes in mercy and forgiveness.

The text also talks about society and laws. John Paul II said that abortion is always a serious moral wrong because it ends the life of an innocent human being. Even in difficult situations, the text says that abortion cannot be justified. However, it also recognizes that for mothers, these situations can be very sad, painful, and complicated. Sometimes the decision is not made out of selfishness, but because of fear or hard circumstances.

The text explains that some medical treatments to save the mother can be complicated. There is a difference between directly ending a baby’s life and a situation where the baby dies as an unintended result of saving the mother. These situations are not the same.

Finally, the text talks about doctors. John Paul II said that doctors must protect and care for human life. Their job is to take care of life from the beginning to the end. There is also something called the Hippocratic Oath, where doctors promise to respect and protect human life.
