Puerto Rico is experiencing a massive exodus of professionals. What can be done to prevent this?

Image
"Industry is not a collection of machines and tools and buildings. It is a social entity that has  the responsibility of realizing the happiness of those who work in it. " ( Luis A. Ferré, 1962,  TIME Magazine).  To begin with this discussion I have to start seeing that I have experience working in the states (Florida).  I stopped studying. But I never stopped learning from the  different jobs.  I have family in the states. My dad and our family live there.  They are part of  that “exodus” of professionals that reside in the states for more than 20 years. My stepmom and dad, they are puertorican professionals working. Puerto Rico needs to have more incentives. Tax incentives can encourage professionals to stay and work in Puerto Rico. This topic needs more research and development. To identify structures and differences is very important because we need more professionals that like reading, writing, and teaching. This phenomenon has always b...

The book I used to read

To begin with, the book I used to read the most was: Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. By J. K. Rowling. I remember I was in elementary school when my Mom bought me a book in Spanish. The cover presents the principal characters flying (Sirius Black and Harry Potter). In addition, as I remember, the school (Hogwarts) is guarded by terrifying creatures called “Dementors”, which affect Harry more than anyone else. This novel presents a form of criminology and justice. It's a good example of children's literature and the purpose of the author. Furthermore, Children Literature as an esthetic of liberation. In conclusion, the novel also presents the “Patronus Charm” as a symbol of hope, proof that joy, memory, and love can push back darkness. This reminds me of the passion of Jesus Chris.

Como tentaculo rojo: To Iban Eshu. El mundo gira y suena en Fa grave. Aprender a desaprenderse.

Why do you think bookstores are not more common in Puerto Rico?

Image
"Books are mirrors: you only see in them what you already have inside you." By Carlo Ruiz Zafón. To begin with, I think the bookstores are not more common in PR because of our condition of colony. The etymology of "book": Old English: bōc meaning "written document". Porto-germanic: bōks originally meaning "beech tree".  Theres no more that twenty bookstores in the Island. Book stores are not a trend. Its sad. The culture of the book is relevant for the system for    the society. Its all about humanism. To safe memory of our towns/community. A book to convey. To defeat forgetting.  In addition, my contact with books goes back to my early childhood. I remember the elementary school library. Besides that, in those days, my mother gave me a book written by JK Rowling. Later I had my moment with Isabel Allende, Gioconda Belli, Paulo Coelho y Gabriel Garcia Marquez. Later in (2012) in university : Borges y Cortázar.  Furthermore, I found some questio...

Would you ever consider switching to an online bank? Why or why not?

Image
"Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else’s life.” (Steve Jobs, US Chamber, 2025). Jobs advocates for self-directed life choices. Online banking supports: Financial independence, real-time control over money, reduced reliance on institutional intermediaries. Thats some facts about online banking and grate connotations with Steve Jobs and    the Online Banking topic in discussion. I will express what a I prefer an hybrid system or face to face service.  The etymology The word "bank" originates from the Italian word  banca  (bench/table) " referring to the benches used by Renaissance-era moneylenders to conduct transactions, which in turn stems from Old High German  banc  or  bank ." The term entered English via Middle French  banque  to describe a money-dealer's table". That give us a picture of what I do as part-time job at the Supermarket. Im a cashier. Hands on the bank of the front end. In addition, my grandm...
