Art offers young people and adults a powerful tool to reflect, share, and imagine new possibilities in everyday life. Artists often find creative ways to share their work, helping others see the world from different perspectives. As Picasso once said, “Art is a lie that brings us closer to the truth.” In this sense, poetry and artistic expression open spaces for multi-generational dialogue and balance, encouraging the participation of children, youth, and adults in meaningful processes.

These spaces of reflection allow us to explore concrete and creative alternatives for both individual and collective challenges. In the classroom, for example, we witness the power of poetry to stimulate brain plasticity and engage multiple intelligences in action. When poetry enters the classroom, the planet of learning expands, showing us that every student brings a unique way of seeing, thinking, and feeling.

Cunyabe Cultural Center

1. The Center is a free and open space where artists from diverse disciplines and generations find reasons to engage in dialogue, collaborate, and share their work with one another.

2. The sensitivity that makes us artists also makes us vulnerable to the contradictions of everyday life , especially when we are alone or not actively creating.

3. One of the Center’s goals is to bring artists (especially young ones) together to celebrate, expand, and make the most of the possibilities we carry with our talents.

4. The arts are a powerful tool for humans to clear their minds, making room for new ideas and perspectives that bring us closer to our best understanding of life.

5. These spaces of reflection can help us identify creative and concrete alternatives to face both individual and collective challenges.

6. Childhood and youth are when we have the most energy and the greatest capacity for reinvention. It is also when human beings are at their purest on all levels of life. Therefore, the participation of children and youth in any community’s collective processes is vital for healthy and balanced social transformation.

7. At the Center, everyone is a leader.

8. Though led by young people, the Center embraces a multi-generational vision, recognizing and validating adulthood and old age as the accumulation of experiences and information, where wisdom manifests.

9. Our vehicle is the arts, our path is creativity and motivation, and our goal is to improve quality of life.

10. At the Center, we seek a balance of mind, spirit, and body, so that each human being has the possibility to live fully and consciously, aware of our responsibility as members of this Planet.

Cunyabe Cultural Center holds deep relevance to the town of Salinas, acting as a living bridge between its rich cultural history and the creative energy of new generations. In a community shaped by resilience, migration, and transformation, Cunyabe becomes a vital space for healing, expression, and connection. It honors the wisdom of the elders while empowering the voices of youth, creating a dynamic environment where tradition and innovation meet. More than just a cultural space, it is a seedbed for social balance, local pride, and collective vision, grounded in the artistic spirit that has always defined the heart of Salinas.
